Yes, there is a $5 service charge to switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM.

This fee covers the processing of your eSIM activation request, which includes generating your eSIM profile and linking it to your device. Depending on your ZIP code, additional local taxes and fees may apply, as required by regional regulations.

I switched from a physical SIM to an eSIM with Infimobile it was quick and easy.
