I’m out of the country can I still do a SIM swap remotely?

I’m currently traveling overseas and need to switch to a new phone. Can I request a SIM swap and activate a new eSIM while I’m out of the country? Or do I need to be in the U.S. for it to work?

Hey @jevil Yes, you can request a SIM swap remotely even if you’re currently outside the United States.

Whether you’re traveling, temporarily living abroad, or have misplaced your SIM card while overseas, Infimobile supports remote SIM swap requests as long as you have internet access.

Important Note: Service Availability While Abroad

While you can complete the SIM swap remotely, Infimobile services (calls, texts, and data) are not available outside the U.S.

  • You can activate and register your new SIM or eSIM from abroad.
  • However, you won’t be able to use your mobile services until you return to a supported coverage area (within the United States).

I was in the same boat — overseas with a new phone and needed to switch my Infimobile eSIM.

I reached out to support, and yes — you can absolutely request a SIM swap and activate a new eSIM while outside the U.S.

Just make sure you have:

  • A stable Wi-Fi connection

  • Access to your email (they’ll send the new QR code there)

  • Your IMEI number for the new phone

I did the whole thing from Europe — scanned the new QR code, and my number was live on the new phone within minutes.
